Natural Remedies Which Will Help You Grow Back The Receding Gums! | Healthy Life Vision

Gudrun Howell · July 24, 2016 ·

Gums are the soft tissue which covers the root of the tooth and keeps it in place. When the edge gum`s tissue which surrounds the tooth pulls back, the tooth becomes more visible. This condition is known as gum recession and causes formation of gaps between the teeth, allowing bacteria to develop and thrive.

When unconcealed, the teeth become sensitive and painful. Moreover, the tissue and the bone structure become prone to damage, which can eventually cause loss of the teeth.

Unfortunately, this teeth issue is often overlooked.  Therefore, to get a proper treatment and react accordingly, you need to be familiar with its symptoms. Among them are:

  • Bigger tooth than before
  • Tooth sensitivity
  • Toothache

Even though receding gums are usually result of gum disease, there can be other causes as well, including the following:

Receding gums are often a genetic issue.

Sensitive gums can be a result of hormonal imbalance, particularly in women.

This disease is basically a bacterial infection which causes damage to the bone which supports the tooth, leading to additional issues.

Aggressive brushing can damage the tooth enamel and make the teeth sensitive.

Smoking is known to cause a wide variety of health issues, such as cancer, lung disease, and receding gums. The thing about receding gums is that smokers have a plague buildup on the teeth which can lead to receding gums and sensitive teeth.

Poor oral hygiene and failing to brush the teeth on a regular basis leads to plaque buildup. This also forms calculus, a substance which causes gum recession.

In addition to the aforementioned causes, gum recession can be causes by aggressive biting while chewing your food, grinding or clenching the teeth, and piercing the lips or the tongue.

Treatment

If detected on time, gum recession can be treated with tooth scaling or root planning. In other words, the dentist removes the calculus from your teeth and cleans the area under the gums. However, if the issue is left untreated, you may be left with a surgery as the last option to regenerate the tissue and the bone of the lost tooth.

Luckily, there are various natural remedies which can help you treat receding gums. However, make sure you consult your dentist before trying any of the remedies outlined below.

Natural Treatments

Myrrh is very effective when it comes to treating gum issues and mouth diseases. Moreover, the resin from this tree also prevents further damage!

Combine powdered myrrh and water to create a paste. Apply onto the gums and massage for a few minutes.

Clove oil can be used to soothe toothache, as it fights off bacteria and germs which cause mouth diseases. Moreover, it provides anti-inflammatory properties and reduces swelling. Use clove oil to massage your gums.

This amazing plant provides numerous health benefits! When compared to other herbs, it has more potent effects and it helps fight off bacteria and germs in the mouth.

Moreover, it reduces gum swelling due to its anti-inflammatory properties. However, make sure you dilute it as it is very strong.

Green tea is abundant in antioxidants which fight off free radicals, which are associated with periodontal disease. Moreover, it contains catechins, potent antioxidant which has strong anti-inflammatory properties, strengthens the gums and teeth connection, and reduces gum swelling. Therefore, green tea can be used to treat periodontal disease.

Oil pulling is one of the best natural ways to treat gum recession, as it works against cavities and prevents oral diseases. Its efficacy lies in its ability to provide anti-inflammatory properties and eliminate toxic deposits and plague.

Sesame oil is also very beneficial in terms of creating a layer above the teeth which prevents accumulation of plague.

To do oil pulling, warm the oil and swish it around the mouth after brushing the teeth.  Instead of sesame oil, you can also use coconut oil. It is very beneficial as well and it prevents tooth decay, prevents bacterial infection, re-grows receding gums, and repairs oral cavity. The procedure is the same as with sesame oil.

Aloe Vera provides both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which are beneficial for treating inflammation, repairing the damaged tissue, and preventing infections. Use Aloe Vera as a mouthwash after brushing the teeth.

Prevention

Just like with any other issue, prevention is better than the treatment itself. Below, you have a list of tips on how to prevent gum infections and diseases:

  • Use a toothbrush which has small head and soft bristles
  • Utilize dental floss after every meal
  • Use mouthwash after each meal if you don’t have dental floss
  • Proper oral hygiene
  • Avoid aggressive brushing of the teeth
  • Avoid pushing the gums when brushing them
  • Make circular motions while brushing the teeth

Mouthwash

Regular use of mouthwash helps you prevent bacteria and germs in the mouth. It is recommended to use mouthwash twice daily, in the morning and in the evening. To prepare your own mouthwash, check out the recipe below:

  • Mix a quarter to half a cup of water with 1-2 drops of essential oil, such as clove essential oil, peppermint oil, tea tree, or sage oil. Also, add diluted hydrogen peroxide which prevents infections.

Water

Water is essential for the overall health, including oral health. Sufficient water intake eliminates bacteria, germs, and toxins from the mouth.

Healthy Diet

To boost immunity, you need to eat a diet which is high in nutrients.  Try to eat more fruits and vegetables, which are beneficial for the gums, prevent inflammation, and promote regeneration. It is recommended to eat more strawberries, oranges, pineapple, broccoli, and asparagus.

On the other hand, avoid foods that stimulate bacteria growth and infections, such as processed foods, caffeine, alcohol, white flour, carbonated drinks, and junk food.

Last but not least, consult your doctor before taking supplements like calcium, zinc, vitamin C, and Ginkgo biloba.
