Leo Babauta is a boy who decided to do an experiment in order to examine and improve his health. For starters, he gave up coffee and drinks with caffeine for a whole month.
He admits that it was difficult and almost unimaginable and had several desperate attempts to breach the experiment.
Here’s what he noticed while in the phase of withdrawal:
- He expected symptoms such as headaches and fever, but was surprised because there was nothing like that. Leo was often waking up much earlier than the alarm and was concentrated from early morning.
- The only problem has been the smell of coffee. When he saw others drinking coffee had that desire as he could smell the coffee.
- The biggest problems were after oily and spicy meals. He slaked the thirst with water, but he needed a strong coffee after a meal. The combination of fat and spices is an obvious trap that you should avoid if you want to give up coffee.
What Leo learned after just one month without coffee?
I thought that my cancellation will be much more difficult than it really was.
But to have a habit that will replace the morning and afternoon coffee really helps.
When you are focused on the mental sacrifice you make, Treat yourself to a cup of hot and tasty tea. A piece of pizza or muffins? Why not?
Another important thing – remember that the needs and instincts are current, even the strongest ones.
It is helpful if you speak publicly your challenge.
If your colleagues, friends and family members know that you avoid caffeine, in any way will be helpful. For starters, they will not offer you coffee when they prepare it, nor drink it near you. And believing is crucial to survive.
