DON’T EVER USE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR IF YOU’RE ON ANY OF THE FOLLOWING MEDICATIONS | Healthy Life Vision

Gudrun Howell · September 14, 2017 ·

It is a well-known fact that apple cider vinegar, also known as ACV, is one of the healthiest foods out there and that many people are using it as both preventive measure and treatment of various health issues. For instance, it is widely used as weight loss tool.  It is great for gut bacteria, which makes it ideal for treating digestive problems. It is abundant in many healthy nutrients and it provides numerous health benefits, meaning that you should include it into your daily diet as soon as possible. Below, you have more in-depth information about this amazing ingredient!

Health Benefits of ACV

Apple cider vinegar is abundant in acetic acid. According to a recent study done by Japanese researchers, this acid may help you keep fat accumulation and blood pressure in check. Moreover, another study on the topic done by researchers in Europe has examined the impact of sodium acetate and acetic acid on blood glucose and other biological responses to a mixed meal in healthy individuals.

  1. Cancer-Fighting Properties

According to a study done by a group of Chinese experts, the consumption of vinegar reduced the risk of esophageal cancer. Still, it works for certain types of cancer only and it doesn’t have the same effect on every type. For instance, it increases the growth of bladder cancer by 4.4x.

Apple cider vinegar is also known as potent disinfectant and bacteria killer. It has been shown to help with athlete`s foot, yeast infection, and imbalance of external body bacteria in general.

Apple cider vinegar has the ability to lower bad cholesterol levels, which in turn helps prevent cardiovascular diseases. According to many experts, what makes ACV effective in lowering LDL cholesterol is its chrorogenic acid content. This acid lowers bad cholesterol and prevents its accumulation and crystallization in the bloodstream.  The study was done on rodents, meaning that having a healthy diet to keep LDL levels under control is a good idea.

When Shouldn’t You Use ACV?

You should be very cautious when it comes to consuming ACV, as it doesn’t provide the same beneficial effect on everyone.  As a matter of fact, it negatively affects patients with bladder cancer.  Other groups of people who shouldn’t use ACV include:

It is important to mention that long-term consumption of 8 ounces of ACV on a daily basis can cause various issues, such as low potassium levels. A person developed osteoporosis after consuming 8 oz. of apple cider vinegar daily over the course of 6 years.

  1. Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women

According to medical experts, the way apple cider vinegar interacts with the body is still unknown. Therefore, it is better to stay on the safe side and avoid putting your baby`s life to risk. In other words, don’t consume ACVA if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

People with diabetes, particularly those with type 1 diabetes, should be extra cautious when it comes to vinegar consumption as it affects their blood sugar levels.  Your blood sugar levels should be monitored on a regular basis and you need to adjust your medications accordingly if you are planning on using ACV. Experts explain that insulin lowers potassium levels and excessive consumption of ACV does the same. Therefore, the combination of insulin and apple cider vinegar may cause a significant drop in your potassium levels.

People who are taking hlorothiazide (Diuril), furosemide (Lasix), Digoxin (Lanoxin),  chlorthalidone (Thalitone) and  hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, HydroDiuril, Microzide) should be cautious when it comes to  combination of the drugs above, which lower potassium levels, and apple cider vinegar, which provides the same effect.
