In this article you will learn how to prevent and remove leg cramps.

What Causes Leg Cramps?

Leg cramps aren’t caused by external factors like cuts and bruises. The cramps are result of many internal problems.

Sometimes they occur as a result of water or any other particular nutrients deficiency in your organism. In some cases they could be a sign of severe issues like kidney infection.

Easy Fix

If you participate in moderate or intense activities and often become dehydrated, you can solve your cramp problem by simply drinking plenty of water.

It is advisable to consume warm water because the temperature will be pretty much the same like our blood’s, and it will be easier for your organism to absorb the warm water than the cold water.

If you suffer from cramps often, then you should intake more electrolytes. They act like mini masseuses in our organism and cooperate with the warm water to relieve the tight muscles and disable the cramping at the same moment. You can find them in every health store and some grocery stores.

How to Prevent Leg Cramps?

Hydration is always welcomed, but in some cases our body requires more than water. It needs particular nutrients and minerals that cannot be found in water and electrolytes. Magnesium is very effective mineral for preventing cramps. While the electrolytes massage your muscles, the magnesium is the massage oil.

The magnesium in our body is spent quickly, which means that you will need to take 250-300 milligrams of magnesium every day. You can consume foods rich with magnesium: nuts, pumpkin seeds, lentils, quinoa, dark chocolate, molasses, spinach, cooked potatoes and fish.

Potassium is also very effective in the fight against cramps. Potassium functions together with sodium in order to direct and regulate liquids. The cramps that resulted from dehydration are caused by low potassium or high sodium levels.

It not only prevents cramps, but also works like cramp easing agent.

Potassium directs the fluids to go in the impacted area when ingested in our digestive system. By eating foods that are rich with potassium while suffering from cramps, you will notice that your muscles will start to loosen up quickly.

You know that cramping can happen to everyone, but if you suffer from cramps too frequent you should visit your doctor and ask for advice.
