Growing Geranium from Cuttings

Geranium pot

This method is particularly suitable if you already have a geranium plant from which you can take cuttings. It comes in handy when you’re looking to get geraniums in your home quickly.

Steps to follow:

  • Wait for spring and cut cuttings with a length of 5 to 7 cm.
  • Make sure that Each cutting bears 2 to 3 leaves.
  • Sprinkle with crushed charcoal.
  • Leave the cuttings in the open air for 24 hours.
  • Subsequently, plant them in light soil or river sand.
  • FYI

It should be noted that it is not necessary to cover these plantations with plastic film. Simply maintain a constant temperature between 20 and 22 degrees, making sure to moisten the soil regularly without overflowing or excessive contact of water with the stems and leaves. Once the cuttings are well rooted, you can transplant them into individual pots.

    Growing Geranium from Seed Indoors

Transplant the geraniums to another pot

If you don’t have plants from which you can take cuttings, you can get seeds from any garden store. Geranium, on the other hand, has an excellent germination rate, allowing even novices to grow lush flowering.

    Steps to follow:

  • To plant geraniums, choose a substrate that consists of river sand, peat, and potting soil in equal proportions (1:1:2).
  • Aerate the mixture, water thoroughly, and then sprinkle the seeds on the surface of the soil.
  • Cover them with a thin layer of the same mixture to a height of 2 to 3 cm.
  • Protect the plantings with plastic wrap or a lid, and Keep them at a constant temperature of 20 to 22 degrees.
  • Water the seeds using a sprayer, and periodically remove the plastic wrap to ensure adequate ventilation.
  • After 1.5 to 2 months, leaves will appear on the stems, signaling that geraniums can be transplanted and transplanted into small individual pots. When the plant has double the number of leaves
