Here’s what the hole in the vacuum cleaner hose is really for. A little-known function that facilitates housekeeping

Gudrun Howell · October 28, 2022 ·

You surely notice it every day without suspecting its usefulness. Well, this hole on the pipe is very practical. As a bonus, it saves you some extra costs. Find out quickly what it is for.

What is the function of the hole in the hose of the vacuum cleaner?

Most people use this hole to control the suction power and it works very well. But that’s not all. The manufacturers decided that the hole on the hose was intended to minimize the risk of overheating of the vacuum cleaner motor and thus prevent its combustion. Indeed, if by accident, the vacuum cleaner sucks up an object that is too large that remains stuck in the pipe, the pressure will begin to accumulate and the engine may overheat.

However, precisely, the hole makes it possible to considerably reduce the pressure, without even turning off the device. Once turned off, you can quietly remove the disturbing object to avoid damaging the equipment. At the same time, it saves you from incurring additional costs by replacing the vacuum cleaner.

As you will have understood, this hole on the pipe is therefore particularly important when suctioning: it prevents your device from being clogged by many residues inside.

How to perfume your home using the vacuum cleaner?

You thought it was only useful for removing dust? It may surprise you, but the best way to perfume your home is to use the vacuum cleaner.

To leave a pleasant smell in the house, you should definitely experiment with this technique! Rest assured, it is very simple to apply on a daily basis. Simply open the bag and insert a wipe sufficiently soaked in cologne or essential oils with the perfume of your choice.

This method is especially indicated after having at home. It is actually ideal for camouflage the strong smells of plaster, cement or fresh paint on the walls. This way, every time you vacuum, you can alleviate that unpleasant smell and refresh the place.

N.B: We recommend emptying the tank, changing bags regularly and replacing scented wipes for a more effective effect.
