Getting these vegetables from the store is much easier but the benefits from growing these on your own are many and definitely such an act makes you total rebel!

Growing these is money saving and require no farm, so you can grow them indoors.

You should do nothing more than to use fresh scraps. Try not to utilize stuff that has been composting for quite a long time. While re-growing the plants, ensure you furnish them with enough light and water.

  1. Scallions – Use their discarded roots and re-grow them. Put them in a glass of water and leave an inch of the scallion attached to the root then. Place it in a well lighted room.
  2. Garlic – Can be re-grown from the garlic clove. This re-grown garlic has an easygoing flavor and is perfect for pasta, salads and other meals. After they begin to sprout, place them in a glass with little water.
  3. BokChoy – Put the Bok Choy’s root ends in water in good lighted place. Be patient for one to two weeks and then transplant them in a pot with soil. Soon after it will grow a new full head.
  4. Carrots – Can be re-grown from carrot tops. Put the carrot tops in a dish with little water and then place the dish in a good lighted place. Carrot greens are slightly bitter so chop them up together with garlic and sweetened with vinegar and they can be used in salads.
  5. Basil – Cuts from basil can be used for growing new basil. Put basil trimmings with stems of 3-4 inches in a glass of water and make sure to expose them in direct sunlight. After the roots get to 2 inches long, plant them into pots and in some period of time they’ll grow into full basil plants. You should change the water often, so they don’t get slimy.
  6. Celery – Leftovers from celery can be used for growing celery. Cut the base off and put it in a shallow dish or saucer exposed directly to sunlight. Soon the leaves will thicken and develop with time amidst the base. Plant it in soil after following 3 days.
  7. Romaine lettuce – Romaine lettuce can be developed from the base of a lettuce head. Put stumps of the romaine lettuce in a ½ inch water. Ensure the water level is at ½ inch and a couple of days after, transplant it into soil soon after as leaves and roots show up. Cabbages can likewise be re-developed in such way.
  8. Cilantro – Place the stems of cilantro in a glass of water and they will grow. When the roots are long enough transplant them in a pot with soil. Place them in a room with sufficient light and soon the plants will grown in a couple of months.
