The Best Natural Sugar Substitutes | Healthy Life Vision

Gudrun Howell · October 28, 2017 ·

If we want to be healthier or lose weight, the first thing to do is to delete sugar from our list of foods. It is easy to say but very hard to do.

If you are a big fan of sweets, here you can read about the natural and healthy substitutes for white sugar. Sweeten your dishes, but watch out for your health. There are many artificial sweeteners, which do not contain calories, but it was confirmed that some of them are closely associated with the risk of cancer, such as aspartame, saccharin, sucralose…

When looking for natural sweeteners, pay attention to the fact that they are very little or no industrially processed and that they contain nutrients and antioxidants. Here’s a list of the best natural sweeteners.

Molasses

Molasses is what remains after sugar cane refining and conversion into white sugar. Molasses is a sweetener with most of the nutrients, providing you with large amounts of calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and vitamin B6, and it is sweet.

Dates

Dates are very sweet fruits that you can use to sweeten your food and make great desserts. In addition to sweetness, dates contain vitamins B6 and A, potassium and calcium. Dates are used for a variety of sweet balls, puddings and protein bars.

Honey

Honey contains antibacterial properties and is a great source of antioxidants, which came from the flower pollen. Dark honey has even more antioxidants than light honey. It is best to use organic honey from small producers, because such honey is rich in nutrients and antioxidants.

Maple syrup

Here we do not mean the bottled syrup from the supermarket, but the real maple syrup which is obtained from boiling sap of maple. Although commonly used as a topping for pancakes it can also be used as a sweetener for yogurt, tea or homemade ice cream. It contains small amounts of calcium, zinc and riboflavin.

Stevia

Stevia is a natural sweetener, hundred times sweeter than regular sugar, no calories and is provided by the South American bush. For Stevia is claimed to be the only safe artificial sweetener on the market.
