Where you can find it: juices, pickles, sodas, soft drinks, salad dressings.

  1. BHA and BHT (butyl hydroxyanisole, and butyl hydroxytoluene)

Why we should avoid it: they are preservatives which are able to disable the breakdown of fat. National Institute of Health states that BHT/BHA “greatly impacts to the development of cancer.” The natural substitution for these ingredients that does the same job and preserves food is vitamin E, which is usually included in the natural food section at the markets.

Where you can find them: chips, butter, lard, instant mashed foods, cereal, canned meat, baked goods, beer, drinks and sweets, chewing gum, dry mixes, etc.

  1. MSG (Monosodium Glutamate)

Why we should avoid it: it is a flavor booster which harms the center for appetite regulation in the part of the brain knows as the hypothalamus, causing leptin resistance and eliminating the feeling of satiation.

It is also known as excitotoxin, a chemical ingredient which promotes extra discharge of dopamine, creating a “rush” like drugs.

Where you can find it: canned soup and soup in cubes, frozen meals, dry mixture for soup, canned meals, fast food, Chinese food, canned beans and salad dressings.

Why we should avoid them: they are a substitution for the sugar, but it was also revealed that their consummation leads to changes of colonies bacteria in our intestines in favor of dangerous bacteria that raise the chances of diabetes and obesity.

A study reveals that women who consume more than two soft drinks daily have 50% increased risk to die from any heart ailment.

Where you can find them: flavored waters, juices, non-calorie yogurt chewing gum, soft drinks and snacks.

It has been proved that it causes kidney and thyroid cancer. Although the most of the potassium bromated dissolves in the baking process, the analyzes showed that traces of this component are left behind in the baked products.

Where you can find it: ready-made crust for pizza, branded dough, processed baked foods.

Why it should be avoided: this chemical is considered as carcinogenic which is gained as a byproduct of processing at high temperatures.

Where it can be found: processed food at over 120°C, fried foods such as potato chips and French fries and cigarette smoke.

  1. Sodium nitrite or nitrate

Why it should be avoided: this salted preservative is mostly used for preservation of processed meat. Nitrates and nitrites have been related with the development of pancreas cancer.

Where you can find them: smoked meat, bacon, meat soups in cans, hot dogs and sausages.

Why we should avoid it: it is a processed sugar derived from the corn starch, which encourages the appearance of diabetes, metabolic syndrome and the storage of mercury.

The high fructose syrup includes more calories than any other food.

Where you can find it: sweets, chocolates, concentrated juices, carbonated drinks, processed cereals, syrups for coffee, glazes and spices.

  1. Brominated vegetable oil (BVO)

Why we should avoid it: BVO is considered as additive that disables the separation of the flavor of citrus drinks and energy drinks. This additive is legal in the United States, but it is disallowed for use in Europe, Japan and Australia because it includes bromine, which is included in the fire extinguishers. This additive can also cause some nerve issues.

The companies that are producing carbonated drinks were obligated to remove BVO from their products, but some of them are still using in it. So next time when you buy some carbonated drink, take a closer look to the label. (The best thing for you is to never drink carbonated drinks).

Where you can find it: carbonated and energy drinks.

  1. Blue, green, red and yellow food coloring

Why it should be avoided: these unnatural colors are related with cancers of the thyroid and adrenal glands, kidney, bladder and brain.

Where it can be found: cereals, candies, soft beverages and energy drinks.

In order to dodge these dangerous components you should use 100% organic natural foods. The production of organic food implements certain rules and regulations that guarantee that food doesn’t include any dangerous chemical additives.

It is true that organic food is more expensive than the inorganic, but if you consume 100% organic food you will have better health and quality of life without unneeded storage of toxins in the organism. The organic food is great investment in your own and the health of your family.
