Before we begin discussing about the sunflower seed, we immediately must mention that we are talking about sunflower seed that is clean and unsalted. Scientists put it in the category of super foods that are in the top 20 most powerful anti-cancer foods.

The sunflower is one of the first cultivated plants in America. Indians of Mexico and Peru have grown it for more than 5000 years as proof of its quality. Scientists say that the sunflower is in the top 20 foods that are very powerful against cancer, also now as super food. Sunflower is full of vitamins, mostly has the vitamin E, B vitamins, beta carotene, vitamin E6 and others in smaller quantities.sunflowers-300x185-4341485

Sunflower contains minerals like: magnesium, copper, zinc, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, iron etc. The sunflower is 20% protein, most of it essential amino acids necessary for our body. The sunflower contains fat, but mostly polyunsaturated fatty acids, mainly linoleic acid that lowers the cholesterol levels. It also contains phytosterols which also lower the cholesterol levels. It contains many antioxidants, from which the most powerful are vitamin E and selenium.

Sunflower can be used in various specialties, pizzas, pies, or simply a snack while watching a good movie or enjoying conversation with friends, but be careful if the sunflower seeds are old and salted, these positive effects simply disappear. The salt is a substance that is harmful to the body, especially if administered with salted sunflower seeds, because that way is inserted in large quantities.
