Having stinky feet is a problem no one likes to have.

This problem can be embarrassing as well, because it prevents people from taking off their shoes when around other people.

Even though many people think that the unpleasant odor of the feet is due to sweat, in fact, it is the bacteria on the skin feeding off of the moisture that cause the odor.

That is why one should control those bacteria if they want their feet to smell fresh and be squeaky clean.

These soaks are an excellent means for achieving that, and they also feel great and are pretty soothing and relaxing after a long day.

This is the best indulging mixed into problem-solving.

  1. simple Epsom Salt Foot Soak

Epsom salt is known to neutralize odors. It is also beneficial for soothing the feet that are in pain after a long day, as well as for refilling the magnesium amounts in the body.

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups of warm water
  • half a cup of Epsom salt
  • a big bowl or bucket to soak your feet in

Instruction

  • put the salt into the water and let it dissolve
  • soak your feet in the solution and wait for about 30 minutes. It is recommended that you repeat this every day 1-2 times, twice especially if you are a sportsman
  • dry your feet after the soak

The sage is known for its antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal effects.

Rosemary has also antifungal and antibacterial effects, and the same as sage, it is astringent, meaning that it will reduce the production of sweat in the feet area.

The less you sweat, the less ideal the conditions for bacteria growth.

Ingredients

  • one or two teaspoons of dried sage
  • one teaspoon of dried rosemary
  • a big bowl or bucket to soak your feet in

Instructions

  • fill the bowl with a boiling water and add the herbs to it
  • let the herbs in the water until it becomes warm and pleasant for you to soak your feet in it
  • Repeat this once or twice every day. The soak should last about half an hour
  • dry your feet thoroughly
  1. Bubbly Baking Soda and Citrus Soak

Baking soda is the most popular cleaning agent that besides other uses helps when it comes to your feet and the unpleasant smell. It works sensationally.

It is very efficient in killing bacteria and fungus, it makes the skin softer and it helps you to control the odor. The lemon is an astringent and it also has a great, fresh smell.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups of warm water
  • a quarter cup of baking soda
  • fresh lemon juice made from one lemon
  • a big bucket or bowl to soak your feet in

instructions

  • put the baking soda in the bucket/bowl and add cover approximately with water
  • add the lemon juice and mix well
  • soak your feet in the solution for about 15-20 minutes
  • dry thoroughly

Even though many people consider vinegar to be smelly on its own, it is pretty beneficial when it comes to eliminating different odors.

The way vinegar works in reducing odor is that it creates acidic environment and it makes it really hard for the bacteria to survive in this type of acidic environment, thus it releases the unpleasant odor.

Ingredients

  • half a cup of apple cider vinegar
  • five to eight cups of water (warm)
  • a bucket or a big bowl to soak your feet in

Instructions

  • fill the bucket or the bowl with the warm water and the vinegar to it and mix
  • put your feet in the basin and soak for 15 minutes, twice per day
  • dry thoroughly

The black tea soaks are also a popular cure that may help you get rid of the unpleasant odor.

Even though it might seem weird to you, numerous people throughout many years have confirmed the effects and swear by this method.

Ingredients

  • four cups of hot water
  • five bags of black tea
  • a big bowl or a bucket to soak your feet in

Instructions

  • pour the hot water in the foot basin and then add the tea to it
  • let the tea steep for about ten minutes and then cool a bit down
  • soak your feet in it for about 20 minutes every day
  • in the end, dry your feet thoroughly
