Although charging a smartphone may seem like a trivial gesture, sometimes you get into bad habits that, in the short or long term, reduce your battery life and life. Some harmful actions can impact the capabilities of your smartphone. Here are some good habits to apply in order to properly charge your phone and thus optimize the autonomy and performance of your battery.

How to charge your mobile phone properly?

It is important to know the right steps to take in order to properly charge your smartphone. In this way, you could optimize the life of your battery and prevent premature aging.

Don’t let your phone run out of power

One important thing to remember is that don’t let your phone’s battery drain completely. This practice is particularly harmful. Getting into this bad habit has a negative impact on the battery life. In other words, it would start to hold the load poorly.

Don’t charge your phone to more than 80%

On the other hand, you should avoid recharging your battery when the charge level is practically high. It could also put pressure on your battery and damage it over time. Also, charging the phone to more than 80% can be bad for the battery. In fact, charging it to a level above 80% may reduce its capacity in the next charging cycles.

As you can see, it is better to charge your phone when the battery is at 20% without going beyond 80%.

Other things you can do to charge your phone properly

The practices listed above can impact the capacity and performance of your battery. But that’s not all! There are some common mistakes made when charging your phone, which can also affect your battery life.

Avoid using your phone while it’s charging

It’s a common habit for many people to use their phones while they’re charging. This is because the device tends to overheat when used under full load. This overheating may affect the condition of the battery and other components of the phone. So make sure to let your phone rest while the battery is charging.

Use a compatible charger

To charge your smartphone properly, you should avoid using the first charger you can get your hands on. Always prefer the one that was delivered to you when you bought your phone. If you don’t have your charger with you, there’s nothing stopping you from using another one, as long as its amperage is similar to that of your battery.

Avoid charging your phone from a computer

Charging your mobile from your computer is also a bad idea. If you’ve tried it before, you’ll probably have noticed that loading from the computer is very slow. This is simply due to the difference in amperage between the computer’s USB port and your charger, which can damage your battery and shorten its lifespan. If you have the option of charging using a conventional charger via a wall outlet, you’re better off doing it without the need for a computer.
