Vegetable oils: the new cosmetic products?

The benefits of vegetable oils for health and for the skin are well established. They are increasingly used in the composition of cosmetic products. What if they could stand on their own? Will vegetable oils replace cosmetics?

Vegetable oils: our beauty allies

Natural, nourishing and moisturizing, vegetable oils are numerous and meet each of your specific needs. Hair, skin, health… They take care of us at all levels in addition to being clean, economical and ecological. Indeed, thanks to them, no more dozens of cosmetic products in the bathroom. Some organic stores even offer to buy them in bulk to further limit our negative impact on our beautiful planet! More and more brands are using them in the manufacture of products for the body, face and hair. But can vegetable oils replace them completely? The answer is yes! As long as you choose them according to your needs and the use you want to make of them. Indeed, some oils are comedogenic and are not suitable for the skin of the face of people suffering from acne for example.

Vegetable oils with very little or no comedogenic:

  • Jojoba oil;
  • Argan oil;
  • Avocado oil;
  • Camellia oil;
  • Hemp oil;
  • Hazelnut oil;
  • Black seed oil;
  • Chaulmoogra oil;
  • Grape seed oil;
  • Sweet almond oil.

Comedogenic oils (to be avoided on acne-prone skin):

  • Coconut oil;
  • Almond oil;
  • Wheat germ oil;
  • Flaxseed oil;
  • Peach kernel oil;
  • Rosehip oil;
  • Carrot macerate.

Which vegetable oil to replace my makeup remover?

An oily makeup remover product has the advantage of taking off smoothly and without rubbing all impurities and makeup, even sensitive eyes! The vegetable oil will deeply cleanse your skin and remove all traces of mascara, even waterproof. Use a nut of oil and rub gently on the face to loosen any impurities. If you do not like the protective and moisturizing film that it will leave on your skin, you can finish with a spray of thermal or floral water! Vegetable oils to replace cosmetic products such as makeup removers?

  • Jojoba oil – for all skin types, it leaves a non-greasy finish and is particularly appreciated by skin that tends to shine, as it rebalances the skin’s natural pH;
  • Sweet almond oil – perfect for sensitive, reactive or dried skin;
  • Argan oil – it takes care of mature skin and imperfections;
  • Castor oil – it stimulates the growth of eyelashes and attacks waterproof mascaras. Its texture is thick and can therefore be mixed with another oil to thin it;
  • Carrot oil – comedogenic, it should not be used too often, but it brings an instant good look effect;
  • Hazelnut oil – healing and circulatory, it does not sting the eyes and leaves a non-greasy finish. It is particularly suitable for combination and oily skin because of its seboregulatory power;
  • Apricot kernel oil – for all skin types, it fights against skin dehydration by maintaining the natural hydrolipidic film of the skin and illuminates the complexion for a good look effect;
  • Avocado oil – particularly rich, it is suitable for dry or dehydrated skin. It will also protect them from external aggressions such as wind, cold or sun.

Which vegetable oil to replace my anti-aging serum?

Most vegetable oils have a strong moisturizing power, they all contribute to the good health of our skin and its cells. However, some of them have much higher anti-aging virtues. Wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin… After a certain age, it is time to use a suitable serum every night, so that our skin regenerates during the night. What if we replaced our anti-wrinkle serum with a vegetable oil?

  • Rosehip oil – Restorative, healing, firming and softening, it byparticipates in the regeneration of skin cells for a very effective anti-aging effect;
  • Argan oil – rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, argan oil has been used for centuries for its anti-aging properties. It also soothes skin suffering from eczema, acne or chickenpox!
  • Borage oil – combined with sensitive and dry skin, borage oil deeply moisturizes and participates in the regeneration of the skin while maintaining the proper hydration of the latter;
  • Evening primrose oil – A powerful moisturizer, evening primrose oil is rich in vitamin E and triterpene acids. It is particularly suitable for fighting against the signs of aging.

Which vegetable oil to replace my hair mask?

Can hair cosmetics be replaced by vegetable oils? A true secret of oriental or Polynesian beauty, vegetable oil works wonders when we let it sit on our tired tips, but not only! 100% natural, it saves us from parabens, silicones and other shady substances that weigh down and grease our hair to nourish it deeply, tame frizz and repair the damage caused by the sun, chlorine and many others… To benefit from all these virtues, simply apply vegetable oil on all your hair and leave it on for 30 minutes, 2 hours or even a whole night for a deep repair! Then we move on to shampooing… Discover the vegetable oil you need for hair:

  • Dry and damaged – choose a particularly nourishing and restorative oil, such as coconut oil, avocado oil, argan oil, tigernut oil or macadamia oil;
  • Fat– choose a seboregulatory oil that will moisturize while fighting against dandruff such as jojoba oil, black seed oil, hemp oil or hazelnut oil;
  • Purposes– we choose a fortifying oil that will bring mass to the hair and fight against fall and breakage such as castor oil, coconut oil, sesame oil or argan oil;
  • Curly or frizzy – Choose a nourishing oil that will smooth the hair fiber to sheath the curls and reduce frizz such as piqui oil or moringa oil;
  • Colorful– we choose an oil that will preserve and prolong the coloring, but also that will leave a protective film such as hibiscus oil or macadamia oil.
