Lemon and honey

A mixture of lemon juice and honey will soothe your respiratory tract and stop the coughing for some much-needed relief. Honey has antibacterial and antifungal properties just like lemons. Lemons are rich in vitamin C which will boost your immune system and help your body treat infections efficiently. Here’s how to prepare the remedy:

Ingredients

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon honey

Preparation

Mix the ingredients well and take 3 teaspoons of the remedy per day for some much-needed relief.

Ginger

Ginger is one of the natural superfoods. It contains a variety of essential nutrients and has antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Consuming it in the form of tea can thin out the phlegm in your lungs and bring you some much-needed relief from the irritation. Experts consider eating ginger every day or at least consuming a few cups of ginger tea in order to stay healthy and keep the risk of infections at a minimum. Here’s how to prepare the tea:

Ingredients

6-7 ginger slices

2 cups water

1 teaspoon peppercorns

1 teaspoon honey

Preparation

Bring the water to a boil, then add the peeled ginger slices and peppercorns as well. Now, lower the heat and simmer the mixture for a few minutes, then leave the tea to cool down and strain it. Add the honey once the tea has cooled down and drink 2-3 cups a day for best results. Drinking the tea regularly can prevent the accumulation of phlegm in your lungs.

ACV

Apple cider vinegar is one of the most powerful natural remedies and has been used in folk medicine for a long time. It has antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties and can prevent a variety of infections. The liquid can regulate your pH levels and eliminate the excess phlegm in your lungs. You can also gargle a bit to clean your oral cavity and prevent sore throat.

Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most powerful and healthiest spices available. It’s a powerful antibacterial agent that can help the body fight infections, especially if it’s a respiratory infection we’re talking about. Here’s how to use it:

Ingredients

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

½ teaspoon salt

A glass of water

Preparation

Pour lukewarm water into a glass, then add the sea salt and turmeric and mix well. Once dissolved, gargle the mixture 3-4 times a day to destroy the bacteria in your body and cut down through the thick mucus in your lungs. If you’re suffering from sore throat, gargling a mixture of lukewarm water and sea salt can also help.

Steaming

Steaming is a simple and cheap way of cutting through the excess mucus in your respiratory tract. It will open up your airways and help you breathe better, while also soothing the irritation in your lungs.

Ingredients

½ teaspoon dry thyme

½ teaspoon dry rosemary

A bigger pot of water

Preparation

Bring the water to a boil, add the herbs, simmer for 5 minutes and turn the heat to low. Now, simply lean over the pot and inhale the steam slowly in order to relieve the chest congestion.

To prevent the accumulation of phlegm in your lungs, blow your nose whenever you need to and never consume cold drinks. Smoking is one of the main causes of this problem, so you’ll have to stop smoking in order to breathe better. If you notice there’s too much phlegm in your lungs, never swallow it – instead, go to the bathroom and spit it out in the sink.
