Stroke: How It Happens, How To Prevent It And How To Treat It | Healthy Life Vision

Gudrun Howell · January 17, 2015 ·

The brain is the control center of the body that controls virtually all body functions from breathing and heartbeat, to the ability of speech and opinion. As well as other organs of our body, the brain also requires a steady supply of blood and oxygen to function normally. When it comes to impaired blood supply of the brain, it can cause stroke, sudden cessation of brain functioning. If the oxygen levels in the brain fall low enough, there may be permanent neurological damage.

Not all strokes are the same, some may be so mild that the victim is not even aware that it suffered a stroke. In some cases, people may feel only mild numbness on the face or hands, and for a short period of time may also have difficulty in speaking or thinking clearly. For others, however, a stroke can be so devastating as to cause permanent paralysis or even death.

Although all strokes result of reduced blood flow to the brain, the trigger does not fire always for the same reason. Among the common causes of stroke are arteriosclerosis, blood clots, internal bleeding and aneurysm.

Arteriosclerosis, or narrowing or completely clogging the arteries due to fatty deposits, causes about a half of the total number of cases of stroke. With the help of proper nutrition, appropriate supplements and a healthy lifestyle, arteriosclerosis is a disease that can be prevented. In some cases, a stroke occurs when an artery carrying the blood clot blocks the blood. There are several supplements that can prevent the formation of blood clots, but we will talk about them later.

In addition, the attenuation of cerebral arteries, called aneurysm, can lead to cracking of the arteries, causing an internal bleeding. Although for some aneurysms are a genetic predisposition, maintaining blood pressure within the limits of normal can be a preventive measure in the weakening of the arteries and leads to the formation of aneurysms. If you are a non smoker, it can also contribute significantly to reducing the risk of aneurysm and stroke. In many cases, however, strokes can be avoided simply by preventing medical preconditions that make us vulnerable in this respect. The following advices will help you not to experience a stroke.

Vitamins can prevent stroke

For several years, doctors prescribed to their patients a low – dose of aspirin in order to prevent the formation of the so – called sticky blood, or blood clots that can cause a stroke. Some new evidence suggest that vitamin E, if taken together with aspirin, may enhance the ability of aspirin to prevent blood clotting. Blood clot forms platelets, a special group of cells that can catch a wall of arteries and form clumps. Before the blood plate attaches to the wall of the artery, it needs to take out some sort of “rope” or anchors which will do it.
