Gudrun Howell · July 27, 2017 ·

What do you do with the leftovers from your lunch? Probably, like everyone else you reheat them before eating them for a second time. This will not be problem for many foods, but there are particular foods that are dangerous for your health if they are reheated.

Which is more interesting is that you would never expect any of the following foods to be dangerous for your health. There are particular foods that lose their nutritious value once they are reheated.

Here is a list of 7 foods that should never be reheated.

The beets include nitrates, which are very useful for your health. It will not be a problem if you heat it up, but it will be a problem if you re-heat it.

Consuming a chicken after a day or so could be a problem. The structure of proteins will change, which results with digestive issues. As a matter of fact, the chicken has more proteins than the red meat. Eat your chicken cold, but in case you couldn’t eat it cold, you can re-heat it over a longer period of time in low temperature.

Potatoes are one of the healthiest vegetables for you. They include many nutrients which are vital for our body. Anyway, the potatoes also shouldn’t be re-heated because when they will sit for a while they lose their nutritional value and become toxic for your organism.

You have probably heard some bad things about mushrooms. In fact, they are very dangerous when are re-heated. They should be eaten after the preparation. In case you must eat them the next day, eat them cold-never re-heat them! When they sit for a while, their structure of proteins is changed. They could be a cause for digestive and many other issues.

5, SPINACH

The spinach is very dangerous when it is re-heated. It is loaded with nitrates, which are transformed into nitrites after re-heating. The nitrites are carcinogenic for our body. Consume your spinach right after the preparation.

The eggs are very dangerous food when they are re-heated, because they become toxic if exposed on high temperatures. Anyway, this doesn’t apply for foods which include eggs during the cooking process. Never re-heat boiled and scrambled eggs.

Celery is usually added in soups, which is normal. The celery includes nitrates like many other vegetables. So, if you intend to re-heat your soup you should remove the celery.

Next time when you intend to re-heat some leftovers from the other day, you should think twice. If your food includes any of the mentioned foods, you should eat it cold. Think about the health risks that are related with food re-heating every time you intend to re-heat your leftovers.
