Do You Know The Difference Between Lemon And Lime?

Gudrun Howell · July 3, 2017 ·

You surely know the majority of citrus fruits including lemons and limes. Many people think they’re one and the same, but besides the similar shape and taste, they have many differences as well.

Lemon is known as Citrus Lemon scientifically, while lime is called Citrus Aurantifolia. Lemons are larger in size and have an oval shape, while limes are round. Limes are actually a hybrid citrus fruit with a pleasant green color and sourish to sweet taste. Lemons, on the other hand, are sour and bright yellow in color. Both fruits contain a lot of vitamin C – an average lemon contains about 53 mg. of the vitamin, while limes have 29 mg. Limes contain vitamin A as well, while lemons contain folate and potassium.

The fruits don’t differ by much in their nutritional profile. They both contain a variety of vitamins and minerals as well as cancer-fighting compounds. Both citrus fruits contain limonoids as well, and are alkaline in nature and acidic in taste. Lemons and limes are powerful detoxifiers which can clean your body of toxins and reduce inflammation, while also treating a host of diseases and conditions.

Lemons and limes are highly beneficial for our health, which is why you should add them to your diet starting today. Eat them more often and you will surely improve your overall health!
