Tips for Your First Holiday After Undergoing Breast Augmentation

Gudrun Howell · September 30, 2019 ·

In 2018 breast augmentation was the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure in the USA and this trend is set to continue. 2018 had more than 300,000 surgeries, according to a recent report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a 4% increase over the previous year.

As facial injectables gain popularity, consumers are moving away from facial surgeries (traditionally most popular) and toward body modifications like breast augmentation, liposuction, butt lifts and tummy tucks. Breast augmentation in NYC has an 5% annual growth, while California leads the stats with an 8% growth.

So, you have recovered from the procedure and are planning for your first holiday. Undergoing the procedure can give you another reason to look forward to get together with your family and friends. It can bring excitement and a sense of wonder, but also apprehension if you aren’t prepared.

Here are some tips that can help you maneuver the conversation around your procedure.

1. Plan Ahead What to Say

You can be sure that your cosmetic surgery is going to come up in the discussion and people will ask you about it. Prepare what you are going to say in advance will put you in control and at ease.

Take your time to imagine scenarios and think of the most likely comments and questions that your loved ones will make. This will help you decide ahead how you want to tackle the topic that you underwent breast augmentation. There is nothing worse than being caught off guard by a question or comment and feel at a loss for words.

2. Take a Clear Stance

Revealing undergoing a cosmetic procedure is a personal choice. Everyone has different reasons for getting breast augmentation done. Whether you decide to reveal it or not, it will be a topic of discussion among friends and family alike as they will not doubt notice the difference. It is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Having chosen to get the procedure done is a personal choice and people close to you should respect that. By revealing your reasons and taking a clear stance you can avoid any misunderstanding. By explaining why this was important to you, you can communicate your thoughts clearly and take control of the direction of the discussion. Your loved ones will understand your choice and support you.

3. Pick Your Outfit

For many women, a curvier bustline is the realization of a long-time dream. Having a bustier, more feminine body also means you have to adopt a new body image and shop accordingly. And the holiday season, when tend to pick out our outfit with great care, is the perfect time to do it.

While engaging in that task, keep in mind the kind of event that you would be attending and whether you want to enhance your new curves or hide them. We all have relatives who might say a harsh word or two about an esthetic surgery. It might be a good idea to wear something modest, loose-fitting and cozy for such events, at least in the beginning. A loose sweater might come in handy.

Nevertheless, holidays are all about fun and frolic and the perfect opportunity to show off your curves. Breast augmentation is an investment into looking great and you should spend time to find the perfect dress that will help you enjoy the results to its fullest.

4. It Is for You and About You

You don’t have to justify your decision. You can share your reasons with your close ones, but you don’t need their approval. A burden of people’s judgments can very quickly turn the holiday mood to grey. Irrespective of what people say, what matters is that you feel great about yourself and love yourself.

Remember that nothing is permanent. Enjoy your new look (and often new confidence) with the knowledge that if you decide that it is not for you, you can safely remove the implants in the future.
