How to reduce your water consumption with flushing?

Flush the toilet

Adjust the toilet tank float

When we go to the bathroom, we waste too much water, which is totally useless. Learn how to use less water in the toilet with this simple trick.

  • Remove the tank cover.
  • Locate the float and adjust it accordingly. To do this, turn the wheel to the left so that it goes down a little. If you turn it to the right, the more water will flow into the cistern, and the more liquid you will waste.
  • Finally, put the lid back on.
  • Adjusting the float is enough to save water. The less water in the tank, the less water you use to flush. You can adjust it according to your preferences.

Placing a water bottle in your toilet

The bathroom is one of the places in the house that consumes the most water. Did you know that every time you use the toilet, at least 6 liters of water are wasted? However, thanks to this simple method, you can save 1.5 liters of water per flush. You just need to insert a plastic water bottle into the toilet tank.

  • First you need to turn off the tank tap and empty the water from the tank so that it does not overflow when you place the bottle.
  • Then you need to fill a 1.5-liter bottle with water and close it tightly. Then, introduce it on the opposite side. Finally, all you have to do is open the shut-off valve to finish filling the tank.
  • Each time the toilet is flushed, this tip will allow you to achieve significant water savings. This space occupied by the bottle will therefore never be consumed.

Careful: Avoid using the brick trick instead of the water bottle.

How many liters of water does a toilet flush consume?

    • High-efficiency toilets are a readily available option that consumes less than 5 litres of water per flush. There are several models of this type available on the market, so it’s easy to find one that suits your bathroom. Modern toilets have significantly improved designs that allow them to use much less water.
    • Dual-flush toilets are the newest toilets. These toilets are becoming more and more popular and are the best eco-responsible decision because they use on average less than 4 liters of water per flush.

Why do I always flush the toilet with the lid closed?

    Close the toilet lid

The toilet bowl is a place that, by definition, accumulates millions of pathogenic microorganisms, germs and bacteria. These microbes have a comfortable ecosystem to live, feed, reproduce, and thrive.

According to a study published a few years ago, it is necessary to adopt some gestures for better hygiene. When you empty the cistern, the water pressure causes all these germs to move and expel them, which remain suspended in the air and adhere to the surfaces of other objects in the bathroom, such as towels, soap, razor blade or toothbrush. It is therefore strongly advised to lower the lid of your toilet before flushing.

How to flush the toilet if the water is turned off?

Sometimes you no longer have access to water that has been cut off in your home. If this is the case, and you have been notified in advance, it is recommended to fill your bathtub with water beforehand. During the interruption of service, yous can rinse your toilet manually with a bucket of water. Here’s how:

  • Lift the toilet seat and lid and rest them against the front of the tank. This will give you a larger opening into which to pour the water.
  • Fill a bucket with water from the bathtub.
  • Empty the bucket of water into the toilet bowl in a single push. Pouring the water slowly will only fill the bowl. The goal is to provide as much pressure as a regular flush.
  • Wipe off water that has splashed on the ledge or floor of the toilet with a paper towel.
  • Things you should never flush down the toilet

By flushing the toilet like this, you can save up to 30% of final PIN water
