15 FOODS TO DO AND DON'T EAT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH | Healthy Life Vision

Gudrun Howell · August 21, 2018 ·

Breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day, but this doesn’t mean that anything you eat will give you a proper kick in the morning. Continue reading below about what foods should and shouldn’t be consumed in the morning:

Foods you SHOULD eat for breakfast

Eggs

Eggs are rich in protein and other essential nutrients that will give you a jolt of energy in the morning.

Watermelon

Who doesn’t love a slice of watermelon? This fruit is a great choice for breakfast and contains a lot of lycopene and water which will support your eye and heart health.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the best breakfast choices as it prevents damage to the intestinal tract and is rich in fiber which will clean your intestines and reduce your cholesterol levels.

Blueberries

Blueberries are rich in essential nutrients as well as antioxidants which can boost your metabolism, improve your memory and focus and regulate your blood pressure.

Cornmeal porridge

Cornmeal porridge is another great choice of breakfast – it will detoxify your body and improve your intestinal microflora while boosting your energy levels.

Honey

Honey will stimulate the production of serotonin in your body and boost your energy levels, while also improving your mood and focus.

Buckwheat

Buckwheat is rich in different vitamins and minerals including iron. It will accelerate your metabolism and boost your levels due to the high protein content.

Nuts

Consuming nuts regularly will regulate your pH levels and improve your digestion.

Foods you SHOULDN’T eat for breakfast

Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits contain a lot of vitamin C, but consuming them in the morning will only cause heartburn, increased risk of gastric ulcers as well as gastritis.

Spicy food

Spicy food in the morning will irritate your digestive system and cause heartburn and other digestive problems which may damage your intestinal flora.

Banana

Bananas are a great fruit which can boost your magnesium levels and cause heart problems if eaten for breakfast alone. If you’re planning to eat bananas for breakfast, combine it with some honey, blueberries or nuts.

Sodas and carbonated drinks

Sodas and carbonated drinks are rich in sugar which will give you a kick in the morning only to crash you down later.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain tannic acid which can cause heartburn and gastric ulcers, so make sure to avoid eating them for breakfast.

Pears

Pears contain a lot of crude fiber which can damage your mucous membrane and harm your digestion.
