Everybody loves tasty and perfectly cooked egg. Some people like them fried others like them scrambled, poached or boiled. However, you need quality eggs if you like to have better breakfast. In this article you will learn how to recognize if the eggs you are buying from the market are from healthy chickens or not.

WHAT MAKES A HEALTHY CHICKEN?

First, you need to know what a healthy chicken really is. The chicken needs to have access to many different foods in order to be healthy. The meat is also included in the chickens menu because they aren’t meant to be vegetarian. They often eat bugs, rodents, snakes, whether they can find and slow enough to eat.

The food that is consumed through the day is passed on the eggs. In order to consume these nutrients the chicken requires a lot of space and fresh air. On the other hand there are chickens that are kept in small hatches all day long, and they will never have the same quality of eggs as free-range chickens.

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD EGG

How can recognize if the egg is from healthy chicken or not? When you are intending to purchase eggs from your local farm or keep looking, you should know the following characteristics:

  • Shell thickness and density: if the egg’s shell cracks too easy, you shouldn’t buy that egg. The chickens with proper diet and better overall health are giving eggs with firmer shells. These eggs are more difficult to crack then the other eggs.
  • Yolk color: Most of the American population is habituated to eggs with bright or light yellow yolks. The older people know that it isn’t the natural color of healthy egg yolk. The yolk should be orange. You should simply compare the colors of several egg yolks and make sure that your supplier sells across-the-board good and healthy eggs.
  • Yolk thickness: You need to pay attention at the thickness of the egg yolk when analyzing the quality of the eggs. You will know that the egg is from healthy chicken if it has thicker and rounder yolk. This egg will provide you with more nutrients and better taste.

A study supports the essentiality of chicken’s proper diet. A report from the Oxford Journal explains that raising the bet-carotene consummation in chickens will raise the level of beta-carotene in their eggs. According to the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry notes that raising the DHA amounts in chicken’s diet will impact the omega-3 fatty acids included in the eggs.

WHERE TO FIND THE BEST EGGS

Now when you know all the tricks that will allow you to recognize a healthy egg easier, you will need to know one more thing-where you can find the healthy eggs. You have many options today with the growth of the agricultural industry and the increase of farming.

In case you have some free space that you can use for a several chickens, you will be able to raise your own chickens and get enough eggs for your family needs. You can feed them with the scraps found in your garden. They will reduce the bug population around your house and provide you with healthy and tasty eggs.

If the chickens from the local farm aren’t kept in small hatches, instead they are walking freely and are eating what they need, then you can buy their eggs.

If you never tried orange-yoalked eggs you should try them. You will feel the difference instantly.
