8 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DO ON AN EMPTY STOMACH | Healthy Life Vision

Gudrun Howell · August 13, 2018 ·

According to experts, doing certain things on an empty stomach can have detrimental effects on our health. Drinking warm lemon water after getting up is certainly healthy, but there are some things you should never do in the morning on an empty stomach. Here are 8 morning habits that are harming our health:

Drinking coffee and tea

Millions of people around the world start their day with coffee or tea, but this may lead to acid reflux or heartburn which can damage your intestinal lining. Before drinking anything in the morning, you should first drink a glass of water. Add some cream or milk in your first cuppa Joe in order to reduce its negative effects.

Drinking alcohol

Drinking alcohol in the morning after getting is highly dangerous. Alcohol is directly absorbed in the bloodstream when consumed on an empty stomach, dilating your arteries and lowering your blood pressure. This will make your drunk pretty quickly and destroy your body from within if you turn it into a habit.

Taking painkillers or NSAIDs

Both pills are never safe when taken on an empty stomach and may cause gastric bleeding or other problems.

Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits such as oranges or lemon are highly beneficial for our health, but should never be eaten on an empty stomach. This will turn your pH levels to acidic and open the door to many problems.

Exercise

Of course, exercising and staying in shape is pretty important for our overall health, but it shouldn’t be done in the morning on an empty stomach. The body burns glycogen as fuel, but as you don’t have enough of it in the morning, it will burn muscles instead, leading to increased storage of fat.

Workouts

Working out in the morning when your energy levels are low due to not having your breakfast can limit your performance. This is why it’s best to exercise later in the day and a few hours after a meal.

Labor

Working on an empty stomach will leave you depleted of energy and nutrients which the body requires in order to work. Start working after you’ve had your breakfast and listen to your body – don’t strain yourself if you tire quickly.

Grocery shopping

Going to the market on an empty stomach will make you buy high-calorie foods thanks to the hunger, so make sure to eat a bit before shopping.
